The Opportunity 

We are seeking an experienced Child Safety and Safeguarding Manager to lead, embed and continuously strengthen G8 Education’s child safety strategy, assurance frameworks and organisational maturity.

This is a critical leadership role that holds the business to account and ensures child safety is actively protected, championed and sustained across our national network.

Reporting into senior leadership, the Child Safety and Safeguarding Manager acts as G8 Education’s subject matter expert and organisational ambassador for child safeguarding. You will be responsible for setting and governing the child safety policy framework, leading alignment with the National Principles of Child Safe Organisations, and driving a strong, consistent culture of child protection across all parts of the business.

This role works closely with Operations, Education, Risk and other key stakeholders to ensure child safety is embedded through policy, systems, training, risk management and assurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and govern G8 Education’s child safety and safeguarding strategy, frameworks and maturity uplift across the organisation.
  • Own and continuously improve the Child Safety policy framework in line with legislative, regulatory and National Quality Framework requirements.
  • Drive alignment with the National Principles of Child Safe Organisations and applicable state-based Child Safe Standards.
  • Own the Child Protection and Safety enterprise risk profile and oversee controls to ensure ongoing compliance and assurance.
  • Develop, implement and monitor G8 Education’s Child Safe Organisation Plan, coordinating cross-functional actions.
  • Establish systems, processes and training to support mandatory reporting obligations and understanding of child abuse offences.
  • Partner with Operations, Education and other stakeholders to embed child safety into everyday practice across centres.
  • Lead the development of child safety resources, training and capability uplift programs for leaders and teams.
  • Support investigations and provide expert guidance on the application of state-based child protection and reporting frameworks.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with child advocacy agencies and external experts to strengthen safeguarding capability.
  • Monitor and measure child safety culture through assurance activities, reporting and pulse checks.
  • Identify, escalate and manage child safety, WHS and organisational risks in line with G8’s Risk Management Framework.

About You 

You are a confident, values-driven leader with deep expertise in child safety, safeguarding frameworks and regulatory environments. You are comfortable operating in complex organisations, influencing senior stakeholders and holding the business accountable to the highest standards of child protection.

You will bring: 

  • Significant experience in child safety, safeguarding, risk or regulatory leadership. 
  • Strong knowledge of the National Principles of Child Safe Organisations and state-based child safety legislation.
  • Proven experience developing and governing policy frameworks and assurance models.
  • Ability to lead cultural change and embed safety through systems, capability and leadership.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. 
  • A genuine commitment to protecting children’s rights, safety and wellbeing.
  • Hold a valid working with children check or willingness to obtain upon commencement.
