The Opportunity 

As a Positive Behaviour Guidance Coach, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening educator capability across our centres through evidence-based, trauma-informed behaviour guidance practices.

Working closely with centre teams, leaders and Support Office functions, you will provide face-to-face coaching, mentoring and professional learning that supports safe, inclusive and developmentally appropriate practice for all children.

This role is deeply values-led and grounded in the belief that every child has the right to feel safe, supported and understood.

This position is on a fixed term project contract until, 2029. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide face-to-face, evidence-based coaching and mentoring to educators and teachers to strengthen positive behaviour guidance practices.
  • Support centre teams to understand the function of behaviour and apply strategies for complex, trauma-related and developmentally informed behaviours.
  • Work within the National Quality Framework, with a focus on Quality Areas 1, 5 and 7, to drive safe, inclusive and high-quality practice.
  • Partner with Practice Partner Leads, Regional and Area Managers, Centre Leaders and Support Office teams to identify and respond to behaviour guidance priorities.
  • Facilitate professional learning and training programs using adult learning principles, both in-centre and online.
  • Develop, implement and review centre-based action plans to support sustained quality improvement following centre visits.
  • Promote and uphold child safety, wellbeing and inclusion, acting immediately on any unsafe practices in line with policy and escalation processes.
  • Contribute expert input into the development and review of policies, strategies and support materials in collaboration with the Legal, Quality and Risk team.
  • Evaluate coaching, training and support activities to ensure continuous improvement and best-practice outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and actively pursue ongoing professional development to ensure practice remains current and evidence-based.

About You 

You are an experienced early learning professional who is passionate about positive behaviour guidance, child wellbeing and building educator capability. You bring strong coaching skills, a collaborative mindset and the confidence to influence practice across diverse settings.

You will also bring:

  • Strong knowledge of behaviour guidance, including complex and trauma-related behaviours
  • Experience coaching and mentoring educators in practice-based settings
  • Sound understanding of the National Quality Framework
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A commitment to child safety, inclusion and continuous improvement
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel regularly across the stat
  • Hold a valid working with children check or willingness to obtain upon commencement.

Travel requirements

This role requires regular travel to centres across the state to deliver face-to-face coaching in line with funding requirements. Occasional travel for conferences, corporate events and professional development is also required.
