About the Role 

We are seeking an experienced National Safety and Wellbeing Manager to lead a dedicated team within our Health, Safety and Wellbeing function.  In this crucial position you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance are withheld across our portfolio of childcare centres and support offices contributing to the positive safety, health, and overall wellbeing of children and team members at G8 Education.

Your day-to-day 

No two days are the same; this role is diverse, with depth and breadth to cement your career, now and into the future. Areas of core responsibility include, but are not limited to: 

  • Ensure systems and processes are in place to support G8 leaders and team members facilitate a proactive safety culture and meet their health and safety legislated obligations to maintain and continually improve safe systems and a safe place of work. 

  • Develop and lead the Health, Safety and Sustainability strategy in line with the G8 Education short and long-term team objectives. 

  • Maintain relationships with WHS/OHS regulatory authorities in each jurisdiction and report incidents as required to the regulator as required 

  • Engage with internal and external partners to develop an Integrated Management System to provide a sound foundation for minimum standards and continuous improvement.  

  • Accountable for the strategic management of G8 Educations National Workers Compensation Premium and the relationship with insurance brokers and state-based insurance agents 

  • Develop, Lead and Continuously improve the corporate Crisis and Emergency Management Framework in consultation with key stakeholders 

  • Contribute towards the development and implementation of business wide safety KPI’s  

  • Complete reporting as scheduled to the board of G8 Education in consultation with the Chief People and Business Transformation Officer 

  • Monitor the implementation of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System through the development of monitoring, audit, inspection and review processes and schedules.

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills and experience 

  • Substantial experience in a Work Health and Safety role with technical expertise in areas of hazard risk management 

  • Demonstrated experience with Environmental Management practice and system development 

  • Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and management of Crisis and Emergency Situations 

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret data to inform decisions 

  • Demonstrated ability to author comprehensive safety and sustainability performance reports relevant to all levels from Board members to operational team members 

  • Proven ability to develop policies, procedures and processes based on legislation, research, data analysis, future trends and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure sustainable practice. 

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively across all areas of safety and environmental practice improvement.  

  • Inspiring training presentation skills with an ability to engage and motivate audiences.  

  • Demonstrated ability of workers compensation and rehabilitation practices across Australia. 

  • Proven ability to effectively manage workers compensation premiums across a national portfolio
