The Opportunity 

As the Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business Partner, you’ll step into a key strategic role reporting directly to the National Safety and Wellbeing Manager and acting as 2IC for the function. You’ll lead national WHS and wellbeing engagement initiatives, driving continuous improvement and building a proactive safety culture across our network.

This role is all about setting the standard, providing both expert WHS technical advice and strategic oversight. You’ll partner closely with Centre Managers, Operational Leaders, and Support Office teams to embed safe work practices, uplift capability, and ensure our WHS initiatives align with broader business goals.

With a strong focus on coaching and collaboration, you’ll empower leaders to confidently understand and own their safety responsibilities, contributing to a high-performing and safety-focused culture across G8.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with operational leaders to drive a proactive safety culture, continuous improvement, and uplift in WHS capability across the organisation.
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) on WHS, providing high-level advice and guidance aligned with national and state WHS/OHS legislation and regulatory obligations.
  • Lead and coach managers and leaders on WHS best practices, building strong relationships to influence a positive safety and wellbeing culture.
  • Act as the 2IC to the National Safety and Wellbeing Manager, supporting strategic planning, national health and safety initiatives and providing WHS&W representation in cross-functional initiatives and discussions.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of the strategic plan for Health, Safety and Wellbeing.
  • Lead and coordinate incident investigations to determine root causes, identify risk mitigation strategies, and deliver actionable recommendations and lessons learned.
  • Conduct WHS risk assessments and support leaders in identifying, assessing, and controlling workplace hazards.
  • Deliver coaching and training on WHS topics, including risk management and incident investigation, to build operational WHS capability.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organisation’s Safety Management System.
  • Leading and participating in internal and external health, safety, and wellbeing audits to assess compliance with legislative requirements, organisational standards, and continuous improvement objectives, ensuring audit findings are documented, communicated, and actioned appropriately. 

About You 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in work health and safety, ideally within a large geographically dispersed organisation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline.
  • Health and Safety Lead Auditor Qualifications
  • ICAM or equivalent investigation training
  • Strong knowledge of National WHS/OHS legislation and regulations
  • Proven capability in conducting investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective action development, and communicating lessons learned
  • Ability to coach, influence a broad range of stakeholders including operational leaders
  • Experience in developing, implementing and continuous improvement of Health Safety and Wellbeing Management Systems.
  • Genuine passion for health and wellbeing, with experience in delivering in health, safety and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Current drivers licence and ability to travel including interstate as required
  • Hold a valid working with children check or willingness to obtain upon commencement.
